CHILD MEDIA &
PHOTOGRAPHY
POLICY.

Effective 2 September 2026Applies to photographs, video and other identifiable media featuring anyone under 18.

Uganda Climbing celebrates young athletes while protecting their privacy, safety and dignity. Consent is voluntary and refusal will not affect team selection, participation, training or federation support.

  1. 01

    Prior permission

An identifiable image of a child will not be published without prior permission from a parent, legal guardian or another person authorised to decide for the child.

  2. 02

    Child participation

The proposed use must be explained to the child in an age-appropriate way. Where the child does not agree, Uganda Climbing will not publish the image.

  3. 03

    Dignity and safety

Images must be respectful, sport-related and consistent with the child's best interests. We will avoid material that is embarrassing, exploitative or likely to expose a child to harm.

  4. 04

    Limited identification

A parent or guardian may approve a full name, first name only or no name. Uganda Climbing will not publish a child's date of birth, school, home address, contact details or medical information with an image.

  5. 05

    Specific channels

Permission is recorded separately for the website, official social media, federation reports and newsletters, and named press or approved sport partners. Permission for one channel is not permission for every channel.

  6. 06

    Image rights

Before publication, Uganda Climbing must also confirm that it owns the photograph or has permission from the photographer or other rights holder.

  7. 07

    Duration and withdrawal

Permission applies for up to three years, until it is withdrawn, or until the child turns 18, whichever comes first. At 18, the athlete must give their own consent for new use.

  8. 08

    Secure records

Consent records are restricted to authorised federation personnel, retained only as long as needed for accountability, and then securely deleted or de-identified.

CHANGE YOUR
DECISION.
